Kristen has been working at The Retreat for the last several months in marketing for The Retreat. She’s from Chicago, Illinois, USA and moved to Edinburgh for postgraduate studies in August 2015, gaining her MSc in magazine publishing at Edinburgh Napier University.
Name: Kristen Wegrzyn
Position: Digital & Content Marketing Intern
Question 1: What do you enjoy about working in the beauty industry?
I was first exposed to the professional beauty industry while working as an editor for a trade publication for aestheticians and salon/spa owners. I spent three years living and breathing skincare. While working there, I got the chance to learn so much about the passionate people that make up the spa and salon industries, in the US and internationally.
Question 2: What’s the favourite part of your job?
I love getting to know The Retreat’s loyal clients and being part of a continually expanding industry.
Question 3: If you could choose one favourite product what would it be?
I love a good serum, like ESPA Skin Radiance Intensive Serum. Since I struggle with breakouts, moisturisers can sometimes be a bit too heavy and frequently contain ingredients that don’t agree with my skin. Serums help treat my skin while providing a slight barrier from the moisturiser.
Question 4: What treatment would you choose to have yourself?
I love massage, there are few things better than an amazing massage to melt away tension from head to toe. It’s hard to choose, but I’d go with the ESPA Back, Face & Scalp Massage off The Retreat’s extensive treatment menu.
Question 5: Where did you last go on holiday?
Technically, my last holiday was a trip home to Chicago in February, where I spent a month with my family and friends. Before that I went to Mallorca with my boyfriend and his family. We rented a motorbike and drove from Port de Pollenca to the Cap de Formentor, a winding road through the edges of the mountains. It was exhilarating and the views were absolutely surreal.
Question 6: What’s your favourite food?
This is one of the hardest questions for me to answer because I love food, although who doesn’t? I was really lucky as a kid, my parents exposed my sister and I to so many different types of food from toddlerhood on. If I had to narrow it down I’d choose sushi and pizza.
Thank you for your lovely answers, Kristen, it’s been very interesting to read you!
See you next month for another interview!
